The data group consists of 8 output pins, the control group consists of 4 pins, and the status group consists of 5. The Chinese 3,4, and more axis driver cards are all over the place. The PMDX 340 is excellent, Ive had one for years on my Sherline 4 axis mill working with linuxcnc and mach3/4. The Gecko 540 is sort of a default answer. The original parallel port divided those pins into three groups: data, control, and status. To drive the steppers you need motor drivers. The port has a total of 17 physical pins. This is my first converted mill, so this stuff is new to me. The halparport component is a driver for the traditional PC parallel port. I plan on going with a larger spindle motor and doing the servo swap on X Y Z eventually, but for now, just getting it running is paramount. I have my computer all built up and have LinuxCNC installed and operating. ![]() There was mention of running a 7I98H card on another forum: 7I92H picture So I'm trying to figure out what all I need to order to run LinuxCNC on here instead.
